Historic facts

The historic facts about Uzbekistan.

The geographical location of Central Asia between Amu Darya and Syr Darya played a key role in a process of land settlement. Archeological excavations showed that the process of the land settlement of Uzbekistan started since the Bronze Age. It is necessary to take into account that archaeologists found and studied objects of different epochs: starting from the ancient, early and late Middle Ages.

Central Asia was captured by Greeks-Macedonians and Seleucians in the 4-3d centuries B.C. The capture of Alexander the Great of this land gave a stimulus for economic and cultural development on the territory of the East, the West and also Central Asia.

In the 3d century B.C. the captured lands gained independence and the local dynasties came to power. Bactria, which included the south part of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, became a center of Greco-Bactrian Empire, and later Kushanian Empire, which was considered one of the greatest empires as Roman Empire, Parthian Empire. Central Asia was captured by Arabs in the 7-8th centuries B.C. In the 10th century Arabs had to march forces after Samanids came to power.

Turks came to power in Central Asia in the 1-10th centuries. In this period of time such cities as: Bukhara, Samarkand and Termez, which were situated on the route of Silk Road, appeared and began to develop.

The Mongolian invasion of Central Asia. In 1221 Chingishan's power extended from China to the Caspian Sea. In this time he captured the territory of Central Asia and destroyed such cities as: Bukhara, Samarkand and Hiva (only 50000 from 100000 of population survived). His descendants went farther. They found a more powerful Empire, then other empires.

Tamerlan, who stood twice Mongolian marches at the head of Tohtamysh, came to power in the middle of the 4th century. As a result of this his Empire got independence and began to widen the territory.

His Empire became one of the most powerful, which ever existed on the territory of Central Asia.

Uzbek tribes captured the north part of Central Asia and further small feudal territories of the collapsed Tamerlan's Empire. They came to power in the 14th century and formed their own state, which they began to call Turkestan.

Today history becomes a true education of a nation. Heroic deeds of great ancestors awake historic memory, form a new civic consciousness, become a source of moral education.
